Palli to test Firestone Indy Lights car
AUG 20, 2012
BROWNSBURG, Ind. -- Juncos Racing driver Bruno Palli, running in his rookie season for the 2012 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, will have his first run in a Firestone Indy Lights car tomorrow at Putnam Park Raceway located in Indiana.
Palli, 21, who currently drives the No. 15 Team Viso Venezuela/Juncos Racing car, came to the Mazda Road to Indy via Team Viso Venezuela, founded by IZOD IndyCar Series driver E.J. Viso. The program promotes bringing young talents from the South American country to compete in the Mazda Road to Indy ladder with the help of Venezuelan supporters. Palli is looking to move to the next level in the Mazda Road to Indy program from the Star Mazda Championship into Firestone Indy Lights.
“I’m really excited about testing the Indy Lights car tomorrow,” said Palli. “I know the car will be different with more horse power, but I have run at Putnam many times and feel comfortable with the track. I know that the team will help me a lot with all of the details of the car. The objective of tomorrow will be to gain more experience and miles in my racing career.”
Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, has built his team through karting, the Star Mazda Championship, and this year added participation in Firestone Indy Lights, where it competed in four races. Juncos is looking forward to developing another team driver at the next level.
“Driver development has been the key to my team progressing from karting to the American open wheel series in Star Mazda and Indy Lights,” Juncos said. “We have helped develop many drivers throughout the years and with this we have been able to move up as a team. Bruno will be the second Juncos driver to test in an Indy Lights car, we ran J.V. Horto at the beginning of the season who was a pervious Juncos Racing Star Mazda driver. I’m thrilled that Bruno will have the chance tomorrow to step up into another car and I am confident he will have a smooth adjustment.”
