Team Briscoe Wins Media Karting Challenge
MAY 21, 2012
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Chalk up another victory for Indianapolis 500 pole winner Ryan Briscoe.
The Australian returned to his adopted hometown May 21 and led Team Briscoe over Team Dinger in the Captain’s Cup Media Go-Kart Challenge at Victory Lane Indoor Karting.
Nate Ryan of USA Today won the race for Team Briscoe ahead of Jeff Gluck of SBNation.com of Team Dinger. ESPN’s Nicole Briscoe – who was selected by Penske NASCAR driver AJ Allmendinger with the first overall pick – finished third after leap-frogging from fourth to first on the opening lap.
“It’s great to spend some time with the media here at home in Charlotte, especially since most are focused on the Coca-Cola 600, but they’ve taken notice of the Indy 500,” Briscoe said. “AJ used some mind tricks by selecting my wife with the first pick. It was messing with my head, but Nate Ryan took the glory for my team and did INDYCAR proud.”
Fan alert: Briscoe, driver of the No. 2 IZOD Team Penske car, will be signing autographs from noon-1 p.m. (local) at the Macy's on State Street in Chicago on May 22.
