Playing in the band
Rev, the biggest bash of the Verizon IndyCar Series season, happens May 6 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and INDYCAR drivers are preparing. Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver Mikhail Aleshin, who plays guitar when he isn’t driving a race car at 220-plus mph, and Team Penske’s Will Power, who plays the drums, will both be performing at the party with the rock band, Chamber Music.
Looks like Mikhail climbed out of his Indy car at Barber Motorsports Park last weekend and picked up his guitar for band practice in Indianapolis. Good thing the sold-out Rev party has about 3,000 RSVPs.

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden is Rev’s honorary driver chairman this year. When he won the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by America’s First on Sunday, party planners were thrilled and congratulated him on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Fishing with … Bigfoot?
Before the race at Barber Motorsports Park, Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay took some time out for one of his favorite pastimes. Word is you can catch some pretty big largemouth bass in the pond there. We’re not sure if Hunter-Reay was expecting his furry companion. Either way, he doesn’t seem to be particularly concerned.

Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud is good at surprising his girlfriend, Hailey McDermott. He apparently did just that recently with the most amazing cake we’ve ever seen for her birthday.

Looks like Zak Brown, McLaren Technology Group’s executive director, made a promise to two-time Formula One champion and new Indianapolis 500 driver Fernando Alonso that he’s going to have a tough time keeping.
