The annual IZOD IndyCar Series race weekend schedule at Texas Motor Speedway allows for considerably more downtime than many other events, which is welcome to drivers and team members following the non-stop Month of May on- and off-track activities and the Dual in Detroit less than a week later.
"INDYCAR 36" cameras seized the opportunity to connect with two-time series champion Scott Dixon on and off the racetrack for the show to be broadcast at 11 p.m. (ET) June 20 on NBC Sports Network.
"It seems that Scott is always battling for the win in a race and for the championship," IMS Productions senior supervising producer Dan Huber said. "With Texas being a night race, we were able to spend race day morning with Scott, his wife Emma and their friends at the local Waffle House near the track.
"Scott is a just a very genuine guy, someone you root for."
The show also provides viewers a behind-the-scenes look at Dixon competing through qualifications and the grueling 228-lap race on the 1.5-mile, high-banked oval in the No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing car.
“I think INDYCAR 36 really gives fans and viewers an insider perspective on what it’s like to be a driver in our series – at least on race weekends," Dixon said. "Every driver, every team and every track is different, so the show really highlights the level of diversity in the IZOD IndyCar Series.”
