The Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 will be the 10th IZOD IndyCar Series event conducted at Kansas Speedway. Eight drivers have won the nine races at Kansas. Dan Wheldon is the only two-time winner.
ROLE IN THE IZOD INDYCAR SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP
In the previous nine races at the track, only one driver has won at Kansas and gone on to win the championship. That driver was Sam Hornish Jr., who won in 2006. Four champions have finished second at Kansas, and two champions have finished third at Kansas.
In 13 seasons, five drivers have won the fifth race of the season and gone on to win the championship. Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti and Dan Wheldon won the Indianapolis 500 when it was the fifth race of the season. Tony Kanaan won at Texas in 2004, and Greg Ray won at Pikes Peak in 1999.
