Bio

Mario Moraes got his first taste of speed at 11 years old in a go-kart. He displayed talent and recorded impressive results straight away.

After three years racing go-karts, Moraes stepped out to Formula TR 1600 in the United States. Following his experiences in America, Moraes returned to Brazil to race in the prestigious South American Formula 3 Championship. He then moved to Great Britain to contest the British F3 Championship.

Moraes finished his rookie IndyCar Series season in 2008 with three top-10 performances, including a career-best finish of seventh at Watkins Glen. In '09, he recorded six top-10 finishes in 16 events.

• Posted nine top-10 starts, including four in a row on ovals.

2008
• Finished 21st in IndyCar Series standings for Dale Coyne Racing.
• Recorded three top-10 finishes with a high of seventh at Watkins Glen.

2007
• Finished 14th in British F3 International Series for Carlin Motorsport with best finish of fifth at Rockingham (England) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium).

2006
• Finished second in South American F3 for Bassan Motorsports with five wins, eight podium finishes and one pole.
• Competed in British F3 National Series for Carlin Motorsport with two wins in four starts.
• Competed in Masters of Formula 3.

2005
• Finished eighth in South American F3 for Bassan Motorsports with a podium finish and one pole.

2004
• Competed in Formula TR 1600, recording three wins, five pole positions and seven podiums in 11 starts.
